Do you read comic books?

I remember when I was young loving reading The Beano and The Dandy. I’m only 34, so not old old yet, but I got into those because of my Dad. He had a huge pile of the annuals from the 70s when he was a kid. I used to read and re-read them. Which led to me buying the weekly comics when I started my paper round at about 13 I think.

In between this though, my Dad also introduced me to the world of Oor Wullie and The Broons. Now these ones I fell in love with, and had a few of the annuals (still have a couple of Oor Wullie ones). Oor Wullie was a cheeky little Scottish fella who got up to all sorts of mischief, The Broons were a Scottish family just living life day to day.

I loved reading these, then I sort of drifted away from them. During the back end of 2017, Amazon’s Prime reading got me into comics again. I was flicking through the library of free reads on Prime, and came across The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics by Robert Aguirrre-Sacasa, (I knew it was being made into a series for Netflix so wondered if I’d enjoy the comics). I read the first 8, and actually quite enjoyed them. While reading these I came across Riverdale comics, also by Robert Aguirre-Sacasa. I knew it was based on characters from the Archie comics, but never knew they had made Riverdale ones. I read all 13 (including Comic 0),  and loved them (but I am a huge Riverdale fan anyway).

I also read the first comic in the Sons of Anarchy series, which I had bought in paperback for my husband for Christmas one year (I haven’t bought him any more after realising how damn expensive they are!) SOA is one of our all time favourite shows, so this grabbed my attention when I spotted it in a shop.

I’m wanting to get back into comics again, so last night (again thanks to Prime) I downloaded Locke and Key by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. This is also a new show on Amazon, I haven’t watched it yet though. The story seems quite intriguing though.

2020 reads....

Ok I know, I know, its March.

This is rather late!! I haven’t even read ANYTHING yet so far in 2020!! But I’m going to try to get back into it. I love reading, it’s one of my favourite things to do. But I seem to be in these reading funks, where I just can’t get into a book, sometimes for weeks or months at a time. Hopefully what I’m reading now will pull me back.

So right now I’m reading Dear Evan Hansen by Val Emmich. I’m obsessed with the soundtrack at the minute, and as soon as I saw the book last week in Waterstones, I grabbed it.

Hi there!!

So this is my new blog! I've blogged before, but I'm starting anew after a few years sabbatical shall we say

So let me introduce myself.  I'm Dee, from Newcastle upon Tyne. I'm married with 2 children C 11 and J 10, they both have Autism. They were diagnosed really early (2 and a half), so it's been a long time now,  and we have our ways of dealing with everything. No pets yet, C doesn't like dogs,  J loves them, so we're hoping at some point we may get a Golden Retriever, but only if C changes her mind.

I love to read. I have a bookcase full of books in my room. The kids have a full bookcase downstairs, and more in their bedrooms. We also have 2 shelves of cookery books in the kitchen. Oh, and my kindle is loaded too! I read any genre, I'm not exactly picky. If I see a book and it takes my fancy, that's all that matters.

I also love cooking and baking. I'm starting to bake more now and get more used to it. The problem is I have type 1 diabetes, so too many cakes etc is not a great idea, so sometimes they do get wasted. 

I love TV/Films. Me and the hubby try to go to the cinema to see new movies we really like (Star Wars is a must on release day), and we often watch different tv shows at night time. Netflix is a godsend lol. I love to binge watch tv shows that the other half wouldn't watch.

I love Tattoos. I have 18 (I think), and would love more. I have ideas for my next ones :)

Oh and I love the Sims. I don't really 'play' the game properly, but I love to sit and build huge houses that I could only ever own in my dreams Haha.

So that's me in a nutshell. I'm hoping to keep up with this blog, and post random pics of bakes, books and bunches more.
